MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - A Massachusetts man is charged with attempted kidnapping after he allegedly drove to Madison with a stash of weapons, to see a boy he met in an online game. 21-year-old Trevor Lucas was already charged in state court in the incident. Wednesday, a federal grand jury handed down the attempted kidnapping charge, along with counts of illegally transporting firearms and brandishing a gun in a crime.
Dane County authorities said he impersonated a police officer last August when he went to the boy’s home, pulled a gun on his mother, and asked to see the youngster who was 16 at the time. Prosecutors said Lucas and the boy were playing the “World of Warcraft” Internet game when Lucas asked the teen to send him nude pictures. The boy then apparently put Lucas on a list of people to ignore. And Lucas was said to respond by threatening the boy if he didn’t pay money Lucas claimed to spend on him while playing the game.
